Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a meeting on the execution of the instructions of the Head of State, which considered measures to curb the growth of food prices, issues of attracting investment and solving urgent social problems in the regions.
Since the beginning of the year, prices for socially important food products have increased by 17.4%. The largest increase in prices was recorded for onions, sugar, carrots, potatoes, buckwheat, horns, flour and cabbage. At the same time, prices for chicken eggs have decreased.
The Prime Minister stressed that weak contracting leads to an increase in prices for onions and other vegetables. In particular, onions rose the most in the Kyzylorda region and Shymkent.
Alikhan Smailov instructed:
To intensify the work on financing business entities within the framework of the "revolving scheme", to ensure the filling of reserves of stabilization funds and to monitor the retail trade allowance;
The Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition – to strengthen control over price collusion and anti-competitive actions of wholesale suppliers;
The Financial Monitoring Agency should stop the activities of illegal sugar sellers, including through social networks and advertising applications, as well as take control of sugar supply channels;
The Ministry of Agriculture should analyze the availability of priority food products, determine the necessary import volumes and take additional measures to increase its own production. During the consideration of the second issue of the agenda, it was noted that the Government adopted a new Concept of the Investment policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, within which an updated indicator on investments in fixed assets was established – up to 25.1% of GDP by 2026.
The meeting participants also discussed issues of preventing wage arrears in the regions, resolving and preventing labor disputes, as well as factors of tariff growth in the housing and communal services system.
The Head of the Government instructed to solve the issues of concern to Kazakhstanis in a timely manner.
