This year, the green belt of the city will be planted with another 451,518 seedlings. Among them are birches, elms, maples, currants and apple trees.
Planting work began with the warming of the weather in the capital – in the first days of May. Astana Ormany brigades sow from 25 thousand seedlings a day.
"If forest watering is not practiced in other parts of the country, then due to the peculiarities of our climate, green belt seedlings need watering. Seedlings planted in spring will be watered 12 times this year, and then 6 times each season. The peculiarity of the climate is reflected in the choice of material. For example, all planting material is zoned here. This means that when planting, we use materials from the Akmola region, since southern trees simply will not take root with us," says Ardak Khasenov, chief agronomist of Astana Ormany LLP.
It should be noted that today the area of the green belt of the capital is 14,827 hectares of land. More than 9.6 million trees and about 1.8 million shrubs grow on this territory.
